Hilton Nursing Partners CEO Ann Taylor has featured on national news appealing for care workers to been given priority at the fuel pumps.

“Panic buying of fuel in Kent is not only causing gridlock but preventing care workers getting to the people that need them the most.” says Ann.

In her role as the Chair of KiCA (Kent Integrated Care Alliance) Ann can report that the hardest hit of all the social care service provision in Kent is community care and domiciliary care. For these services the car is critical in getting to those who need support and care in their own homes.

Ann says: “Don’t forget care staff really need the fuel too. We’re appealing for kindness and consideration to help them get to those who really do require care. Already I’m receiving reports of care staff stuck in gridlock situations due to panic buying, the knock-on effect is carers being late, and worse not being there at all. It really doesn’t bear thinking about. Our care staff need to be able to get to the people they care for, it really could be the difference between life or death.

Although some deliveries of fuel have been made to a small number of stations in Kent the chaos in the battle to get to the pump once the station opens is causing pandemonium and gridlock.

“It will be dyer if we do not get prioritisation. I just wish there had been more thought around delivering at night to avoid this chaos!
