CHINESE DELEGATION LEARN ABOUT HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE BEST PRACTICE

Company CEO Ann Taylor speaks to a delegation from the China Development Research Foundation about good practice and innovation in elderly health and social care.

Invited by the Adult Social Care and Health department of Kent County Council to speak, Ann Taylor, as Chair of Kent Integrated Care Association, addressed the delegation on key health and social care issues and solutions.

Ann Taylor, Chair of the Kent Integrated Care Association and CEO of Hilton Nursing Partners says: “Elderly care isn’t just a growing issue in the UK, it is a global issue whereby we are all looking at ways to develop services that are fit for purpose, and economically viable. It was a pleasure to be invited to share how we as a care association tackle this issue, and also how as a private sector provider we work with the public sector to address new, innovative ways of working toward a more equal and caring social care service.”

Through an interpreter the delegation were keen to discuss how the UK way of working and best practice could be adopted and used as the basis of reform back home in China.

The delegation learnt about how UK local councils work with social care providers to select and procure specific services, how providers are assessed through the tendering process, how budgets are defined, and how quality control is assessed and managed.

The China Development Research Foundation fact-finding visit was organised in association with Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the British Embassy in Beijing.
