Hilton Case Study – Ms Q

After a road traffic accident Ms Q was transferred from a London hospital to a local acute trust suffering from a serious pelvic injury which restricted her mobility. After almost a month in hospital Ms Q was discharged onto the Hilton programme.

Ms Q had a history of alcohol abuse and was homeless. She required support to access temporary accommodation which had been arranged by the Local Authority. She also needed help to access to funds for food and living expenses and emotional support to manage after this major trauma.

Hilton PNA’s arranged transport and escorted Ms Q to the local Gateway, where they organised food vouchers, shopping and settled Ms Q into her new home. The five-day recovery consisted of medication management, confidence building and emotional support in addition to encouragement to maintain fluid intake and nutritional management.

Ms Q’s mobility and well-being greatly improved with continued enabling and emotional support throughout her recovery period. Hilton liaised with the Local Authority to take over for an additional period at the end of the recovery period, ensuring access to food was organised and alleviating Ms Q’s concerns that she would not be able to manage shopping etc once she left Hilton’s service.
