Transforming Care Innovation: Hilton Nursing Leaders to Mentor in Upcoming CIH Hackathon Challenge

The CEO of Hilton Nursing, Ann Taylor, and the company’s Finance Director, Athol Craigmyle, are set to serve as mentors for the upcoming Care Innovation Hub Challenge (CIH) – an inventive, hackathon-style event happening at Coventry University this weekend July 1-2, 2023.

The yearly incubator programme will extend an invitation to those successful applicants to spend a weekend focused on creative brainstorming and prototype testing. Ann and Atholl will provide their expertise and counsel.

Throughout the event, participants will meet with their mentors, evolve their initial concepts and prototypes, craft a business plan, and be trained in giving a compelling elevator pitch. This all culminates in a final pitch to the judges.

Only five of the weekend’s teams will be chosen for further mentoring to refine their concepts. Each finalist will also receive a £500 cash reward, providing funding for initial tests and market research. The journey will continue to the Challenge Final at the NEC Birmingham Care Show in October. There, they will present their advanced solution to an expert panel.

Ann Taylor, Hilton Nursing Partners CEO says: “Embracing the future, we eagerly await the opportunity to mentor the innovative minds of tomorrow. Our shared journey will be one of discovery, growth, and the creation of solutions that can revolutionise the care sector.”

The Challenge, hosted by the Care Innovation Hub (CIH), is run by the National Care Forum (NCF) and is supported by Think Local Act Personal (TLAP) through its National Co-production Advisory Group (NCAG) to ensure people with lived experience help to create solutions to key challenges faced by the care sector. NCF is dedicated to developing innovation in the social care and support sector and this is a natural home to drive the CIH into the future. The winning team will receive £1,000 in prize money, media coverage and further mentoring to develop their idea.
