New Year Success for Hilton Nursing Partners

The New Year starts with congratulations as Yvonne Hastings, Personal Nursing Assistant has been nominated for an Alzheimer’s Society Dementia Hero Award.

Yvonne has been recognised for her work supporting patients with dementia particularly one patient who at times displayed challenging behaviour. Through her support and dedication Yvonne spent time building a rapport with the patient which led to personal hygiene routines being a much better experience for the patient and carer.

Yvonne also took the time to take part in activities with the patient. From walks in familiar surroundings, to playing games and completing puzzles indoors, a real friendship has developed which sees the patient fully supported through their dementia journey.

Ann Taylor CEO at Hilton Nursing Partners says: “The award focuses on celebrating the involvement and participation of people affected by dementia. Yvonne has really demonstrated her understanding of the disease and taken a person-centred approach in empowering her patient to lead a better quality of life whilst living with dementia.”

The Award finals will take place at the end of January where Yvonne will learn if she has been successful.
